Letter From The Secretary-General

Dear Delegates,
Welcome to the British School Model United Nations 2020. It is my pleasure, as Secretary General to welcome you all to this unique MUN, spearheaded by a desire to arrive at diplomatic solutions and spark invigorating debate.

The executive board has worked tirelessly to ensure that you will leave this conference with strengthened geo-political problem solving skills, new bonds between fellow delegates, and memorable experiences. We are all aware of the benefits of discussion, debate and even dissent during conferences. However, it’s really the collegiate approach to analyse issues holistically and resolve them, that MUN aims to instil in all of us. We are confident that TBS MUN will reinforce these essential attributes of learning and problem-solving, despite it being virtual.

However, we mustn't let that affect our spirit, desire to succeed, and passion for debate. I wholeheartedly know the power these conferences have to mature each one of you, and make you better thinkers than when you arrived. That core strength of MUN conferences will be present regardless of the medium, virtual or in-person.

Furthermore, every single agenda has been carefully handpicked for this conference, with utmost care and precision. Each incoming crisis will be sure to keep delegates on their toes, and we hope that Committee deliberations will evoke intellectual discourse, passionate debate and mature resolutions, as befitting young leaders and future statesmen.

The British School pursues excellence in each of its endeavours and it is my conviction that TBS MUN 2020 will also set one such benchmark. We in the Executive Board assure you that you will find us committed in more than equal measure, in assimilating all perspectives towards the success of the Conference.
